Jay Shells-Rap Quotes (LA Edition) w/ AnimalNY *Vimeo

Since his “Rap Quotes” project in New York went viral, artist Jay Shells continued to expand the series. He put up a bunch more in Harlem and now, ANIMAL rejoins him in Los Angeles.

Jay Shells installed official-looking street signs featuring hip hop lyrics of Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Warren G, Notorious B.I.G., Kendrick Lamar and more — at the exact locations called out in each “Rap Quote.”

From Inglewood to Beverly Hills, Long Beach to Compton, Hollywood to Venice Beach — the avid hip hop fan known for his unsanctioned interventions installed 45 new signs. Check out the video for Jay Shells in action in the sunny streets of LA, some East Coast boy observations and an ambush by a freestyling barber.
