Yes. More things that we should all be better at doing. Or not doing. This one is shorter, because we all have stuff to do. Get the album. Gift it to a friend. Or an enemy.

Took a trip last summer with Reno and Dday. It was super hot and tick infested but Reno killed the wall.
Shouts to DDAy for playing guide and coordinator. If i recall correctly we were briefed when we got there complete with matching handouts with maps and alternate escape routes.

First Word sais:
We are proud to present ‘The Spy’ and ‘From Lithuania With Love’ (feat. Blu & Open Mike Eagle), two brand new teaser tracks from ‘The Soviet Tape Vol.1’ – the new collaborative LP from Fulgeance & DJ Scientist.
DJ Scientist, one of Germany’s most prolific record collectors (check out his incredible ‘Soviet Grooves’ mix for Solid Steel) dug out a slew of samples from his archives, enlisting Fulgeance (MPC virtuoso and one half of Souleance) who transformed the source material into a truly unique and original album.
Taking forgotten records from Russia to Moldavia, The Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia and beyond, the duo have interspersed the largely instrumental album with skits culled from 60s CIA documentaries as well as vocal cuts featuring Blu, Open Mike Eagle and DistantStarr. This all adds up to a release that is both a throwback to the uncertain times of the Cold War and a tribute to the great depth of music that the former Union was responsible for.
With high-concept artwork from Emile Sacre, taking it’s cue from original Soviet records, the album is in turns jazzy, psychedelic and soulful, but with hip hop at it’s core. A follow up is already in the works – keep ’em peeled comrades!

For this episode of Rhythm Roulette, we linked up with Danny Brown’s DJ, Skywlkr. We went to Peoples Records in downtown Detroit, where he made his three record selections blindfolded. From there, we went to Skywlkr’s crib, where he attempted to put together a beat out of all three records.
AnimalNY sais:
While some New Yorkers hunker down during an extreme weather event, others venture out and use it to their advantage; like surfers love hurricanes, graffiti writers love snowstorms. Blizzards, even boring ones like last night’s, provide great cover when spray painting art on property without permission. There are less busybodies outside, snowy roads slow motor vehicles (and police cruisers) to a snail’s pace, and the city, for the most part, is focused on way more urgent matters.

Chris Karns recently did a mix for the SeratoCast series. At NAMM 2015, he did a shorter version for the crowd, and we were on hand to capture the whole thing.
